“Toasting” Team Awesome! Ezekiel Flax Bread Toast with organic peanut butter and Team Awesome member Daniel’s awesome mango jam!

We are winding up another week of our Boomtastic New Year’s Revolution Challenge and heading into Week 3, which means we are 1/3 of the way there! Our Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp Team Awesome Challenge Team is up to almost 80 people and it’s so exciting to see everyone’s amazing progress. We are all getting stronger, adding push-ups and burpees to our fit test numbers and also seeing change in our bodies and on the scale. But the thing I’m most excited about is seeing the energy and mindset shift in our team members.

It is so exciting to watch as people TAKE THEIR POWER BACK and start believing again that they are in control of their bodies and their lives. As a trainer, I get so excited to be a part of that moment when a person realizes that they have the power to change their body. I see it happening in this Challenge and I love it! Because we are tracking our numbers from week-to-week and writing them on a board, we are getting visual proof that our efforts are paying off. This is the real power of goal setting and goal tracking and why it is so successful. That moment when you realize “wow, I worked for something and I got it” is a trigger that leads to awesomeness! In that moment you are making a mindset shift from “victim of circumstance” to “person at the wheel”. And once you realize you’re the one driving, well, look out Marty McFly! (“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”)

Now, does that mean that we’ll never feel disempowered again? Of course not! As we always say, it’s a journey, not a destination, and along the way our empowerment will be tested again and again. As you start hitting those goals, don’t be surprised if thoughts of doubt and fear bubble up. You might hear your inner critic or fearful ego say things like:

Your success is just a fluke.
You just got lucky this time.
You may have reached this goal, but you won’t be able to do it again.
That scale can’t be right.
You’ll gain the weight back.
This success isn’t yours to keep.
You’re not worthy of this awesomeness.
You never stick with anything.
Don’t take a day off or eat anything “bad” or you’ll blow it all.
You have to work out and push yourself like a crazy person to get results.
It’s easier for everyone else.
Everyone else is getting there faster.
You don’t deserve this.
Nothing good ever lasts.

I know these thoughts because I have thought them all! And even as a trainer they still come up for me! This is not a bad thing. In fact, this is a great thing! That’s how we get stronger and more awesome, by learning how to manage the doubts and fears that come up for us by replacing them with thoughts of love, acceptance, and empowerment. So when you hear these thoughts creep in, don’t get mad or frustrated or discouraged, just think of your inner critic/ego as a scared little child who is just trying to adjust to all the new awesomeness. Give him or her a BIG HUG and say, “Thank you so much for showing me where I used to be and how far I’ve come, but now I am the BOOM KING/QUEEN/SHERIFF/MASTER/BOSS of this body and no one else.” Remind yourself that any and all success and awareness you gain is YOURS TO KEEP. Fear not, for you earned this, you did this, and you have new knowledge and support, making it truly impossible to ever go back to where you were.

Congratulations on another boomin’ week, Team! Special shout-out to Team Awesome for all of the yummy healthy treats we’ve been sharing with each other and for supporting one another with such love, kindness, enthusiasm, and passion. I am so proud and grateful to be a part of something so special. Have an empowered weekend and get those workouts scheduled for next week! Ba-Boom!!!!!

Inspiration Friday: Raise Your Vibration!!!

So, one of the many fabulous hats I wear is the one of “Marketing Mom” for MomsinHawaii.com. The big thing we’ve been working on is our Happy New You Makeover Promotion that launched today – yay! I am really excited about this one, not only because hardworking moms have a chance to win a fabulous prizes like stylish clothing from my favorite boutique Eden in Love and pampering treatments from the Queen’s Women’s Health Center, but also because to enter this contest, moms must answer the question: “What are you proud of?”

The reason I love this so much is that the question pushes us to look for our own value. Recognizing our own value and self-worth is one of the hardest things to do, and yet it is one of the most surefire ways to RAISE YOUR VIBRATION. And what happens when we raise our vibration? Well, life is just easier, sweeter, and more fun! I recently took on a challenge that was put out by inspirational mom, blogger, raw foodist Tera Warner that was inspired by EFT master Carol Look. Tera challenged her readers to, “Tell me ten things you love about yourself!”. The goal of the challenge was to “lower your resistance” and “raise your vibration” so that you could feel that FLOW – you know the one, that FLOW that you feel when things are just going your way, you are reaching your goals, and you just feel like THE UNIVERSE HAS YOUR BACK!

I did this for 30 days straight! If I missed a day, I would make up for it on the next one – it was tough, but it was AMAZING. And it works! Taking this time each day to think about what I love about myself really helped me to feel lighter and more resilient, despite tough days at work or with the kids. This experience really inspired me as we worked with our Moms Community to create this fun and exciting contest. It is our hope that our Island Moms will take a moment to toot their own horns, raise their vibration, and feel that sense of empowerment that comes from recognizing their own value.

So whether you are a mom or not, challenge yourself to think of 10 things each day that you are proud of or that you love about yourself. We have a tradition in our home at dinner time that we call “Appreciation/Proud Of Circle”. First, we go around and say things we appreciate about each other, then we go around and say things that we are proud of. It never fails to raise the vibration at the dinner table and makes for such a nice dining experience. The kids love it. Gratitude and Self-Worth are always delicious. So dive in!

Here are 10 things I’m proud of as a mother:

  1. I’m proud that I make the kids healthy home lunches
  2. I’m proud that I teach my children to look for the benefit in challenges
  3. I’m proud that my children trust me with their fears
  4. I’m proud that I can make my kids laugh
  5. I’m proud that my children can depend on me
  6. I’m proud that I am always looking for ways to improve myself as a mother
  7. I’m proud that I’m teaching my kids about gratitude, self-worth, and love
  8. I’m proud that I am conscious about being patient, present, and available for my children
  9. I’m proud that I really listen to my kids
  10. I’m proud that I embrace my kids for who they are and encourage them to find their own voice and power

Inspiration Friday: You Can Create an Exceptional Life

Is it Inspiration Friday already?! Yay! Today’s inspiration is the book “You Can Create an Exceptional Life” by Louise Hay & Cheryl Richardson. I bought this book for myself for my birthday and just finished. As you can tell by all the post-its, I was quite inspired by the whole thing! I’ve been carrying it around with me for reference and to re-read certain sections. It’s a delicious little morsel of a book; a nutrient-dense meal for your soul.

I pretty much love anything Hay House does and this book was no exception. If you are looking for a quick read to remind you of the power you have to create a great life full of love, forgiveness, and joy then get yourself a copy, curl up, and enjoy! Here is the book description:

For countless people, the words of Louise Hay have served as a beacon, leading them out of the darkness of despair and into the light of a better life. Cheryl Richardson is one of the many individuals whom Louise has greatly influenced . . . before going on to become a best-selling author herself.

So what happens when these two combine their collective wisdom into one book?

The result is what you’re now holding in your hands. As Louise and Cheryl engage in a series of empowering and intimate conversations, you’ll feel as if you’re simultaneously having lunch with your best friends and also attending a master class put on by two leaders of the self-empowerment movement.

As they travel throughout North America and Europe together, Louise and Cheryl discuss a wide range of topics, including the importance of loving ourselves and our bodies; aging consciously; bringing true prosperity and abundance to the world; manifesting positive relationships—both with family and friends and in the workplace; and facing death in a dignified and peaceful way.

These two amazing women are living proof that the spiritual principles they discuss in these pages really work. As you read, you’ll discover that you, too, have the ability to create an exceptional life!

And so now, I’m about to start my next inspirational read, “Spirit Junkie” by Gabrielle Bernstein. I’m so excited! Have an inspiring weekend everyone! I’ll be at the Oh Baby! Family Expo this weekend with MomsinHawaii.com! Come and check it out!

Inspiration Friday: My Amazing Bootcamp Ohana

Happy Aloha Friday, Everyone! I dedicate today’s Inspiration Friday post to My Super Awesome Bootcamp Ohana! It is hard for me to believe that I only met Egan Inoue one year ago. In fact, it is almost one year ago to the date. Last year at this time, I was taking Alice Inoue‘s Feng Shui Your Life course. It started on my birthday of last year, September 24, 2010. It was in this life-changing workshop that I met Egan. Alice brought Egan in as a guest speaker to talk to us about Physical well-being and Health. He had just started Egan’s Fit Body Bootcamp on September 1 and he invited our class to come and try it out.

I just pulled out my workbook from last year’s course and on September 25, 2010 I wrote, “Call Egan – Bootcamp Trial”. I started on October 1 and fell in love! Egan, Marcia, and Corrie were so fun, warm, welcoming, and inspiring and the workouts were kick ass!!! But what REALLY hooked me from the first day were the other Bootcampers. Egan’s Bootcamp is like a magnet for the coolest people in the world. I have met the most amazing, conscious, inspiring, HILARIOUS people over the past year. Seriously. Our Bootcampers are quirky, snarky, sassy, funny, fun, and just so darn FULL OF LIFE. This goes for our Trainers too, by the way. Over the past year, Egan’s Staff and Bootcamp Members have truly become my family. I am so grateful, I could cry!

Bootcamp came into my life at a time when I really needed it. And maybe that’s the way for it is for all of us who end up at Egan’s Bootcamp. I have gone through more life changes in this past year than most of you would probably ever guess. I really believe that it was Bootcamp and my strong system of support and friendship there that helped me weather the seas of transition and change without totally LOSING IT. Despite all the challenges and change going on in my life at the time, when Egan and Marcia asked me to become a trainer last year, I followed my heart and said yes…and thank God I did!

Being a Bootcamp Trainer has become a true passion for me. I LOVE getting up at 4:30 in the morning to teach my classes. I love seeing people drip with sweat. I love hearing them groan and complain and then thank me afterwards for a great workout. I love being able to yell at people in a socially appropriate context. I love seeing people’s bodies and lives transform. I love being able to help people reach their goals. I love laughing and sweating and dancing with my classes. I love seeing people taking care of themselves and giving themselves the gift of physical health and wellness. I love seeing my Bootcampers encourage each other and bond. I love the inside jokes we have. I love hearing everyone’s story. I love the camaraderie of shared muscle pain and endorphins. I love it all. We are a bonded, crazy, eclectic, wacky family that shares the values of self-development, personal growth, health, wellness, and friendship – and dammit, it is a beautiful thing.

Today in our 5:30am class, the gang surprised me with hilarious gifts, thoughtful goodies, and so much sincere kindness and love it brought tears to my eyes. I am overwhelmed by the love and appreciation that I feel for My Bootcamp Ohana. I am happier than I have ever been and there is no doubt in my mind that much of this has to do with this amazing family that has come into my life. Thank you Alice for introducing me to Egan. Thank you Egan, Marcia, and Corrie for all that you do and for letting me be a part of something so awesome. Thank you fellow trainers for your inspiration, support, and friendship.

And to our Bootcampers – I love you – thank you for inspiring me everyday. Being your trainer is the BEST JOB EVER! Now, drop and give me 36 burpees for my birthday! No make that 37 – one for good luck!

"Healthy Birthday Lei" from my Bootcampers - filled with Think Thin bars, Quinoa, etc. LOL! Too cute!

Tick Tock, Party People!

Here we are heading into our last week of Flat Belly Challenge. How are we feeling? Remember, it is not about how PERFECT you followed this program or any other – it is about getting in the habit of feeling good and making great choices for ourselves every day! Which tricks, tips, healthy eating or fitness habits are you going to keep? What feels so good that it will become a lifestyle? In my opinion, that’s the goal of any program like this. It is not about restricting yourself for 28 days so that you can go back to unhealthy choices once is it OVER. It is about resetting your body/mind and shifting your perspective so that you can see that YOU can control your choices and therefore YOUR EXPERIENCE each and every day. That is EMPOWERING.

If you are breathing, you are ALIVE and that means you have TIME ON THE CLOCK to take control of your life and create the experience you want to have on this planet. I want to share an amazing video with you on this very subject. I saw it on one of my absolute FAVORITE websites, FinerMinds.com, which is a one-stop shop for all things inspiring and awesome. Below is their intro to this video. Do yourself a favor and set aside an hour to watch this. It will be time well spent, I promise. What’s your bucket list? Share with us in the comments below and then get to it! Tick tock!

Okay before you watch this video, stretch your arms and grab a Kleenex.

Now, let Sean Stephenson take you through his powerful talk at Awesomeness Fest 2010 that will make your toes tingle and and inspire you to to crank life up a notch by living it to the MAX. Warning: we’ve got possible tears, a little bit of laughter and definitely dancing coming!

Seriously, this Three Foot Giant will knock your socks off. His life-changing story will make you realize that no obstacle should stop you, or anyone else, from living life to the fullest. Sean teaches us that life is not worth whining about and instead of fretting about problems we’re actually much better off doing a boogie instead.

If you’ve not met this remarkable man, you’ll learn quickly that his heart is made of pure gold. Despite surviving over 200 fractured bones by the age of 18, Sean rocks his life to epic proportions and is working his way through an awesome bucket list (he’s already ticked off scuba diving and meeting the Dalai Lama).

Did you like this video and this post? Share the INSPIRATION!

Inspiration Friday: “Reconnecting to the Power Within”

I am so excited to share about this upcoming event held by my dear friends Kahu Lahela, Tahiti Reed, and Kamaha’o. If you are looking for INSPIRATION, you have to meet these Goddesses! Spending time with these powerful, beautiful women is truly an uplifting experience.

You may be wondering exactly what their event is all about and what “an evening with higher consciousness” means. In the simplest terms, Lahela and Tahiti use a combination of Quantum Healing Hypnosis and energetic channeling to tap into the knowledge, wisdom, and healing of our collective or cosmic consciousness. And while this may not resonate with everyone, if you are curious, open, and your heart feels a pull towards this, follow that instinct and enjoy the adventure.

At the very least, this is an opportunity to meet and interact with some amazing people who are interested in helping us tap into our greatest potential as individuals and as a collective. For more information, visit http://conversationwithhigherconsciousness.blogspot.com/
